Biosecurity

At Klareco, we aim to contribute to the reduction of the negative effects of antibiotic resistance, in accordance with Community Regulations on food safety and environmental protection, by applying measures of biosecurity.

Biosecurity can be defined as the set of measures needed to prevent the introduction of disease in a population of disease-free animals. If, however, evidence of the presence of illness beforehand was found, it would limit its spread.
Although disease can originate from different causes – viral, bacterial and parasitic – it can nevertheless be spread via the same routes of infection. Therefore, implementing good methods of biosecurity can be of critical importance and provides the front line of defence in the battle against the main epidemic diseases. Application of biosecurity methods is an essential step in farm risk-management and takes on special value, particularly if applied with a collective approach.

Thanks to its experience in the zootechnical sector, Klareco has developed ways of achieving the correct standards of hygiene in  cow, pig, poultry, and rabbit farming at all production stages. At Klareco we aim aims to achieve high-quality production and prevent the outbreak of disease which could undermine animal well-being.

There are several good habits we can adopt in order to avoid bacterial multiplication, and these include disinfecting and cleaning the environment where the animals live during the “all empty, all full” period and the equipment and machinery used (these methods  are explained further in the sanification procedures) thereby respecting the advised waiting-times in order to create a sanitary barrier before further animals are re-housed.
